FCC Is Being Too Harsh On Major Electronic Retailers

What’s with the FCC lately?
Believe me…I like the fact that the FCC is on the consumers side when buying related products but I think they are coming down WAY too hard on the merchants!
Circuit City, Best Buy, Walmart, and others were fined with $3.7 million in cumulative fines recently for failing to post labels on analog TVs warning that the sets did not include a digital tuner.
First off…
The commission doesn’t have jurisdiction to impose and enforce the labeling regulations
The FCC has never made a public comment about these fines (are they embarrassed with these ridiculous amounts?)
And what cripes me is that with all the outrageous fines they’re slapping around, why are they not making any public service announcements via TV or radio themselves? If they are, I’m not seeing them which in turn tells me they’re not that concerned! Several of the retailers have even assisted in helping […]
