Designed with five incredibly small speakers roughly the size of a golf ball, the new audio/video system delivers a rich surround sound experience that can be easily integrated into a home theater.
The system includes three 1080p HDMI™ inputs with repeater functionality and support for eight channels of uncompressed audio. It is an ideal complement for Blu-ray Disc™ players, PlayStation®3 consoles and other high-definition sources.
With the ability to add optional wireless rear surround speakers and multi-room wireless speakers that configure automatically, the HT-IS100 system can be set up with fewer wires and without complicated wireless IP settings.

“Consumers want a cinema-like surround sound experience in their homes, but are hesitant to add large equipment that overpowers the décor,” said Tyler Ishida, director of marketing for Sony Electronics’ Digital […]

The Cure in NYC: Underneath the Stars Video and Home Again

First of all, I wanted to share the HD video of the opening song at Madison Square Garden - Underneath the Stars.
If you want the high quality version, click this link and then the “Watch in High Quality” link below that:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJQ7aHAmVYc
Otherwise, here yah go:

Secondly: We got back in yesterday afternoon from our two day stay in New York for back to back Cure shows (at Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall).  As previously mentioned, the first was an amazing, high powered show which was one of the best I’ve seen. Radio City Music Hall was equally well-played, but while the venue had an air of intimacy lacking at the Garden, our seats weren’t nearly as good and I didn’t feel quite as “connected” to the show as before (despite Robert walking all up and down the side stairs of the venue). I didnt get any pictures - just […]

It is that time again for an update of whats been happening here at The Look, as well as a brief barometer of the wider industry.
Cannes Lions first off. What a four day ride that was, with all the lunches, meetings and parties its absolutely exhausting. But, it was great to see clients and friends all getting together to enjoy some nice French weather, and to be out of Soho for once!

Work wise? To sum up the last three months: DIGITAL
Over 50% of our revenue is coming from working with agencies (both traditional, and digital) finishing their video content for the web. Clients have included Mercedes, Guiness, HP, Barclays & Nivea.

“New Camera Poised To Alter Filmmaking”: NY Sun on Red

Lee Stewart wrote an interesting post today on
Here’s a quick excerpt
This article by S. James Snyder, “New Camera Poised To Alter Filmmaking”, is the best summary for non-film professionals of why Red is revolutionary. This is the article I’ll give my friends and family (who don’t know much about film-making) to explain why I’ve been so excited about Red, since November 2005, when rumors of its existence first leaked. This statement from the article, for example, would have been dismissed as hyperbole and “fan boy-ism” 12 months ago, but today is just insightful and accurate journalism:
Beyond directors and cinematographers, a whole industry is rising up around the belief that Red is going to revolutionize cinema.

My only quibble is with a couple inaccuracies in the article:

“Peter Jackson agreed to test out Red’s cameras for a short film titled “Crossing the Line,” and the result was screened at the annual meeting of the National Association of Broadcasters. Then a few months […]

Here’s a quick excerpt
Sony will be releasing a new HD Block Camera with increased sensitivity as part of its successful FCB Series of Industrial Cameras.
At this time there are no spec sheets available for the new, highly anticipated FCBH11 block camera, however, the information available indicates that the FCB-H11 will have Auto ICR for Day/Night function and an increased sensitivity of less than 1.5 lux. It will function the same way as other FCBs with Auto ICR modes.
The anticipated release date for the Sony FCB-H11 HD Industrial Camera is 3Q 2008.

Red One Camera Build 16 Beta firmware is here!

unknown wrote an interesting post today on
Here’s a quick excerpt
The much-anticipated Red One camera Build 16 firmware is finally here! The top features in Build 16 that I’m looking forward to are: ability to shoot 16×9 4K; improved ability to shoot in low light; improved and evenly distributed film-grain-like noise; ability to record audio directly to camera (i.e., without a mixer) using phantom mic power.
This will make the amazing Red camera even better. According to a recent post by Red founder Jim Jannard on reduser.net, here’s major features that come with Build 16:

New .R3D file format - requires the use of new versions of QuickTime Component, RED ALERT and REDCINE (not currently available)
Digital Signal Processing optimization.
Image Compression Optimization.
Support for 4K 16:9 recordings in REDALERT and QuickTime based applications.
Fixed high detail scene codec errors in 4K 16:9 recordings.
Fixed polarity of audio recording relative to MIC and / or LINE inputs.
Improved audio sample to video frame synchronization (lip sync accuracy).
Reduced RED-LCD […]
